The Smart Marketing Tool For Bloggers

Guest Posting: The Smart Marketing Tool For Bloggers

Everyone these days tries to find the quickest fix for making their blog a success. Some people even pay decent money on a search engine optimization (SEO) application that might not even be what their blog needs in the first place! There are a number of things you can do to improve your blog's page rank and readership, some as simple as improving your content and choosing a clean, readable layout. Beyond that, there are some effective SEO practices you can use like keyword research, but what I find most helpful and proactive is guest posting to someone else's blog.

The Benefits

Search Engine Optimization

If you guest post to enough blogs, you will experience critical increases in search result rank. Google likes websites with backlinks from other sites with good reputations, related content to your own, and good quality. Other great news, this is a completely honest, non-spammy way to publicize your blog. While getting backlinks and new readers to your own blog, you are also providing quality content to another.

While most blogs consider it standard to post a backlink to the guest poster's blog (usually in the anchor text or author info), not all blogs recognize this as a universal rule. Be sure to ask blogs before writing your guest post if you can link back to your blog; otherwise, the guest post you worked so hard on might not even be able to link impressed readers back to your blog!

Doubling (at least) Readership

Now that I've explained how it's common for guest posts to link back to the guest writer's blog, it's pretty easy to see how this could increase your readership. Of course, you really have to aim for the fences with your guest posts; try to create something fun or valuable that readers will appreciate so much that they will want to read more of your work. The better your guest posts are, the more readers of your guest post will click back to your blog.

Guest posts will help the host's blog as well. If a guest writer has an avid following of readers, they will most likely follow the writer's guest post to the host's blog. Then they might find some other article titles that catch their interest; maybe they'll subscribe!

Networking

Knowing other bloggers and having a professional relationship with them can really help out. First, you can relate your blogging experience to theirs and even ask them for advice from web-hosting to SEO. Second, knowing other bloggers can create business opportunities and open doors that you didn't know existed. It never hurts to network; this is true both in the virtual and real world.

Guest Posting Tips

I've given some tips for guest posting throughout this post, but I thought it would be helpful to have them all listed at the bottom for those skimming through:
• Contact reputable blogs with related content to your own.
• Familiarize yourself with their blog's content and style.
• Ask whether you can post a backlink to your blog before writing the article.
• Write great work that will attract new readers!
• Reply to comments.
